Cookies

What is a Cookie?

A cookie is a small file stored on your computer web-browser (the software you use to access websites on the internet). When you visit websites, cookies are used to help the website remember certain useful things about your visit. This could be something like your user details (so that you don’t have to log in each time), your preferred language or your preferred setings. Some cookies are used to provide information back to the website about how you use it and some cookies are used for marketing or advertising purposes.

It is important for your privacy that you know a bit about what each of these cookies does and why so that you can make a choice about accepting them or not.

When you reach our website certain cookies (known as strictly necessary cookies) may be used straight away. This is because they are needed to make the website work.

Before the website places any other cookies on your computer, you will be presented with a message bar requesting your consent to set those cookies.

It is important to know that cookies cannot be used to identify you personally.

Important plain english description of what we do: Rather than provide a long list of cookies here (which won’t mean much to most people), we think it is fairer and more transparent to explain our cookie use in plain language. When you visit the Mobility Exchange website for the first time, you decide the level of privacy and cookies. If you choose the privacy options of ‘balanced’ or ‘personalised’ this website will set a number of analytical, functional, performance or marketing cookies depending on the level of access you allow. ‘Balanced’ is a medium level of access and ‘personalised’ allows all cookies to be used. You should make your decision based upon the knowledge that if you choose ‘balanced’ or ‘personalised’ on the cookie banner, this will result in cookies being set that track your movements around the website and possibly across websites as you use the internet. This information is used to improve the effectiveness of the website and the business. The best option, and the default option of our cookie policy, is to set your use as ‘private‘.  This means, unless you later choose to change the setting, only strictly necessary cookies are set when you browse our website.

Here is a bit more information on the detail:

Strictly necessary: cookies that are required for the operation of the site. They may include for example, cookies that enable you to log into secure areas of our website, use a shopping cart or make use of e-billing services.

This website will place the following necessary cookie on your browser:

__cf_bm: This cookie, set by Cloudflare, is used to support Cloudflare Bot Management. Duration 1 hour.

hu_consent: tracks the user’s permission for a website to place cookies on their device for tracking, analytics, or advertising.

Analytical/functional/performance/marketing (non-necessary): these are cookies that  would allow us to recognise and count the number of visitors and to see how visitors move around our website when they are using it. They may help us when deciding on marketing strategy. They may help us to improve the way our website works, for example, by ensuring that users are finding what they are looking for easily.

We use Google Analytics in our balanced and personalised settings.

You can also choose to enable or disable Cookies in your internet browser. By default, most internet browsers accept Cookies but this can be changed. For further details, please consult the help menu in your internet browser.

You can choose to delete Cookies at any time; however you may lose any information that enables you to access the Website more quickly and efficiently including, but not limited to, personalisation settings.

It is recommended that you ensure that your internet browser is up-to-date and that you consult the help and guidance provided by the developer of your internet browser if you are unsure about adjusting your privacy settings.
